Anne Marie was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Lupus 5 years ago. It had really started to flare up in the last year or two and it affects nearly all of her joints. Making the simple tasks of walking, sitting on a chair, etc. more difficult than they should be. She is an Irish Dancing teacher and still performs regularly in shows. Her joint pains are not ideal in her line of work.
The simple tasks of walking up and down the stairs, bending her knees to sit down, brushing her teeth etc. would be extremely difficult and painful.
We were able to tailor a solution to AnneMarie’s specific requirements. The main focus was, of course, making a switch to a whole-food, plant-based diet. With Lupus, it is especially important to keep fat levels low and we put a specific emphasis on this. We were also able to put into place a protocol to optimise AnneMarie’s digestion, as most autoimmune conditions begin in the gut.
We focused on increasing the amount of fruit in her diet as well as easy to digest starches and grains. These foods are proven to help in reducing inflammation. We also know that meat, dairy and eggs are shown to increase inflammation levels, so these were removed from her diet.
This is Anne Marie’s testimonial:
I have lupus and a friend of mine recommended this health programme to me. I didn’t have any digestive issue, but as lupus is an autoimmune disease I figured there would be nothing to lose in detoxing and healing my gut. I was diagnosed at the age of 21 and was on medication for 5 years.
I would get the most excruciating joint pains in nearly every joint in my body. The simple tasks of walking up and down the stairs, bending my knees to sit down, brushing my teeth etc. would be extremely difficult and painful. After 5 years the medication didn’t seem to be working as it used to and I was now being prescribed steroids and extra medication to take on top of what I was already on.
At aged 26 I didn’t like where this was going and knew I needed to try a natural approach. I started with High Carb Health in April 2020 and completed the 3-month programme. I can’t believe the difference I have already seen in such a short space of time. I haven’t taken my medication since May, and though I’m not perfect yet (I understand this is a lifelong journey), I am not experiencing the joint pain at a fraction of what I used to when on medication. I am able to participate in every aspect of life again to the fullest.
I wouldn’t have been able to heal myself without the constant support, knowledge, and encouragement I received from this programme. I learnt so much from them that I am now able to continue on this journey myself. Not only am I healing myself from lupus, but I am also allowing myself to live my healthiest life possible and prevent myself from the numerous other diseases that can be prevented by eating and living a healthy lifestyle.
It is just mind-blowing what the right diet and lifestyle can do, and how simple it really is. I am forever grateful to this programme for teaching me how to heal and restart my healthy body and mind.
